NiCHE is more than just a scholarly organization—it’s a global platform dedicated to making vital environmental history research accessible, sparking critical conversations, and building a passionate community of researchers and readers.

For more than twenty years, NiCHE has been at the forefront of this work, and for the past few, our sustainability has relied on the incredible generosity of people like you. We’ve seen the impact of your commitment and the results of your contributions:

• Your support allows us to fund a part-time Digital Strategist/Social Media Editor, who has been instrumental in attracting over 230,000 website visitors last year alone, a testament to NiCHE’s indispensable role as a global hub for environmental history.
• You enable NiCHE to offer honouraria to writers in precarious positions, ensuring that a diverse range of voices continues to enrich our daily blog.
• You invested in the next generation of environmental history by providing travel stipends for graduate students to participate in events like the Canadian History and Environment Summer School (CHESS), directly shaping the future of the field.
• You keep the lights on (the server that runs our website!). Seriously. Our website has been publishing outstanding work in environmental history for two decades and the cost of storing and maintaining that archive of content isn't cheap. Thank you for keeping this essential digital platform going.
